-- DESCRIPTION --
This installation has been initially built for the festival "Ce murmure" (formerly "Les dessous de l'abbaye"). It has been developped with the collaboration of Leo Nicolle, Jeremy Chaudron and Tom Bouchet
The installation: It composed of a table around which you sit with 5 players. The table is stuffed with lots of intuitive sensors. Using your hands with different gestures, you trigger notes, sounds, or apply audio effects, collaboratively, creating a unique piece of music. Meanwhile, a graphical universe generated by your actions starts growing on the table immersing you in your creative trip.
One of the goal of this installation is to make the players feel the pleasure of composing/playing music, whithout any prior musical knowledge. Sounds are triggered by gestures, and therefore, it is a very intuitive, amusing, and a natural way to generate music. Almost primitive. Every people from any age or education can play incredible pieces of sound together.
An other interesting aspect is that players realize almost instantly how important it is to listen to the others players. And this is quite an important hidden part of any music band. After a few moment of playing, you can easily feel the satisfaction to have found a working composition with your firends.
All those aspect also show this installation could be a very interesting mean to initiate young children to music. It is very good for young people to feel what is pure musical creation without having in mind any other theretical or logical thinking while playing.
